Frequently Asked Questions

Moving comes with a lot of questions - we're here to help.

We've put together answers to the questions we hear most often to help make your move as smooth and stress-free as possible.

  • How can I be as prepared as possible for my movers?

The best way to prepare is to have everything packed and ready before your scheduled move. Make sure boxes are sealed and labeled, walkways are clear, and any items you don't want moved are set aside. If you're moving appliances, disconnect them ahead of time unless we've made other arrangements. Additionally, sending us photographs and videos of your items before our arrival can greatly help us plan your move.

If you have pets or young children, it's also a good idea to keep them in a safe area away from the moving activity. The more prepared your home is when we arrive, the faster, safer, and more efficient your move will be.

  • Do you only do local moves in the Springfield area?

No! While we're proudly based in Springfield, Missouri, we move customers all across the country. Whether you're relocating across town, across Missouri, or across state lines, our experienced team is ready to help.

We handle everything from local apartment moves to long-distance residential and commercial relocations, providing the same level of care and professionalism no matter how far you're going.

  • Do you move commercial items or equipment?

Absolutely! In addition to residential moves, we provide professional commercial moving services for businesses of all sizes. Whether you're relocating an office, retail space, warehouse, or other commercial property, our team can safely and efficiently move your furniture, equipment, inventory, and more.

Every business move is unique, so we'll work with you to create a plan that minimizes downtime and gets you back up and running as quickly as possible.

  • How should I move my television?

Televisions are one of the most fragile items you'll move, which is why we require all TVs to be packed in a properly sized TV moving box before our crew can transport them. This helps protect your TV from damage and ensures it can be moved safely.

If your TV isn't packed in a TV box, we ask that you transport it yourself using blankets, padding, or another method you're comfortable with. If you need help finding the right TV box before your move, just let us know - we're happy to point you in the right direction.

  • Do I need to empty my dresser drawers?

Not always. As long as the dresser isn't overloaded and can be safely lifted, lightweight clothing can usually stay in the drawers. However, we recommend removing heavy items, valuables, and anything fragile before moving day.

  • Do you move pianos, gun safes, or pool tables?

We do not move grand pianos or pool tables. We can move some gun safes depending on their size, weight, and accessibility. If you have a specialty item, let us know ahead of time so we can determine the safest way to handle it.

  • What items won't movers transport?

For everyone's safety, we cannot transport hazardous materials such as gasoline, propane tanks, fireworks, ammunition, chemicals, or other flammable items. We also recommend that customers personally transport cash, jewelry, important documents, medications, and other irreplaceable valuables.

  • How far in advance should I schedule my move?

We recommend booking as early as possible, especially during the busy spring and summer months. While we can sometimes accommodate last-minute moves, reserving your date in advance gives you the best chance of getting your preferred schedule.

  • Are you licensed and insured?

Yes! Movin' It is fully licensed and insured, giving you peace of mind that your move is being handled by experienced professionals.

  • Can you pack my belongings for me?

Absolutely! We offer packing services for customers who want a little extra help before moving day. Whether you need assistance with a few fragile items or your entire home, we're happy to discuss the best option for your move.

  • What happens if it rains on moving day?

We move in most weather conditions. Our crew takes extra precautions to protect your belongings, including using moving blankets, floor protection, and careful loading techniques. If severe weather creates unsafe conditions, or you are not comfortable moving your items in the rain, we'll work with you to determine the best course of action.

  • How long will my move take?

Every move is different. The size of your home, distance traveled, stairs, elevators, packing needs, and accessibility all affect the timeline. We'll provide an estimated timeframe before your move, but the exact duration can vary. Providing us with pictures and videos of the house and items can greatly help us narrow down an accurate estimate of timing.

  • Can you move just one large item?

Absolutely! Whether it's a couch, refrigerator, gun safe, or another large piece of furniture, we're happy to help with single-item moves when our schedule allows.

  • What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, major credit and debit cards, checks (local moves only), and electronic invoices through QuickBooks. Payment is due upon completion of your move.

  • Will you disassemble and reassemble furniture/appliances?

Yes! We can disassemble and reassemble most standard furniture and appliances (like washers, dryers, and refrigerators) as part of your move. If you have particularly large or specialty furniture, let us know beforehand so we can come prepared.

  • Should I tip my movers?

Tipping is never expected or required, but it's always appreciated by our crew. Our goal is to provide excellent service on every move, regardless of whether a tip is involved.

If you feel your movers went above and beyond to make your move easier, a tip is a great way to show your appreciation - but the decision is entirely up to you. A positive review or recommendation to friends and family is just as meaningful to our team.
